Modular Access
|
|
|
|
Constantly increasing demand for bandwidth, and the geographical growth
of existing data networks, result in the rapid expansion of fibre optic
use at all application levels.
Today's network infrastructures require open systems based on fibre
optics that can be installed easily, and adapted flexibly to changing
requirements. MICROSENS supplies modular converter systems with a
multitude of functionality modules for LAN and WAN applications as well
as for the conversion of telecommunications and industrial interfaces.
Convergency
Recent information technology developments have resulted in the
growing convergence of local and wide area networks (LAN / WAN). This
convergence places new demands on the connectivity of local enterprise
networks, the Enterprise Access. Protocol-transparent converters enable
the direct coupling of communications equipment such as switches,
routers and bridges over long single mode distances.
Thanks to this transparency, these components are not tied to particular
applications but can coupled with a variety of applications such as
Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI, ATM (OC-3/OC-12),
ESCON® and Fibre Channel.
Flexibility
The modular converter systems from MICROSENS are based on universal card
modules for installation in various chassis versions.
The product range of converter modules includes:
* Multimode / Single mode converters
* Wavelength converters
* Fiber / copper long haul converters
* Bridges und switches
* 3R signal regeneration
* Redundant converters
* Gigabit extenders
* WDM converters.
A wide range of products is available to select the optimum solution for
current and future solutions for all bandwidth, fibre optic parameters,
and connectivity demands. All function modules can be combined at random
and exchanged during operation (Hot Swap).

Management
|
|
|
 |
 |
|
|
Professional access systems enable integration of an SNMP agent, thus
allowing effective monitoring of components via the connected network.
The standardised Management Information Base (MIB) ensures compatibility
with most popular network management systems.
In addition, an integrated web server provides viewing by means of
Internet browsers.
Future firmware updates can be carried out during operation via FTP
upload. Remote queries to the console can be made via Telnet.
The system management can evaluate current operating parameters such as
connectivity status, equipment information, and power supply capacity,
ventilator status and module temperature. An optional GSM modem enables
monitoring to be undertaken independently of the transmission network. |

3 HU chassis
The 3 HU version can house up to twelve modules. Power supply comes from
a modular mains adapter that can also be used as a redundant power
supply. As an option, mains adapters with 48VDC input are also
available.
1 HU chassis
The 1 HU version can house up to three modules. Power supply comes from
an integrated mains adapter (with optional redundancy).
Desktop chassis
In addition to the 19" versions, the product range includes compact
single and dual desktop enclosures extending the scope of existing
converter cards and thus enabling deployment outside of distribution
cabinets. |

For the different application fields MICROSENS offers modules with
special tuned optical parameters.
Distances
For bandwidths up to the gigabit range, distances of 10, 20, 50 and 70
kilometres are available for single-mode transmission. Distances of up
to 125km are possible if the maximum bandwidth of 1.25GB is not
exploited. Even longer distances may be realised by cascading converters
with 3R signal regeneration.
Wavelength Multiplexing
Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) allows for the doubling of
channels in existing lines.
Optical Connector
In addition to connectors such as SC and ST, selected modules are
available with FC, MTRJ, VF45 and LC.
